Worked example
“Nice Build” is 10 characters, 9 without spaces, 1 line, and 10 UTF-8 bytes. A second line makes the line count 2, and the newline is a character too.
FAQ
- Are spaces counted?
- The first number includes them. “Without spaces” removes every whitespace character.
- Do emoji count as one character?
- The character count uses JavaScript string length (UTF-16 code units), so some emoji count as two. UTF-8 bytes is the encoded size.
- Is this the same as the word counter?
- The word counter also shows words, sentences, and reading time. This page is the character counts, including UTF-8 bytes.
